Happy New Year, Ray Family! Welcome to Week 16 of learning! This week we will focusing on goal setting and setting a "vision" for 2021
Here is an information sheet from our Ray PTO as it pertains to remote learning and the hybrid model. Hello Ray Warriors, Happy New Year! With the upcoming plans going into effect for either continued remote learning or the hybrid option, we know that many parents have questions about what to expect. We want parents to understand that reducing the spread of the coronavirus means that many aspects of the traditional school model will be changed for those who return to in-person learning, and as a result, the school day could also look different for families who continue with remote learning. (The current plan for in-person learning is for students to come to Ray either Monday-Tuesday or Thursday-Friday from 8:45-3:45.) We want you to know that Ray teachers and staff will do everything in their power to keep everyone safe for those who choose the hybrid model of learning. You can expect more information about grade band meetings (such as Kindergarten-2nd grade) via google meet in the coming weeks so that families can learn more about the specifics of what to expect for students in different grades. But we do know a few things about in-person learning that we think are important for parents to know so that they can make the best choice for their families: — Students who opt for in-person learning should not expect to have their regular classroom teacher; — Many teachers will be teaching remote learning students and in-person students at the same time; — Teachers and staff will be enforcing the 6-foot distance model. This means that we can’t do group activities as we have in the past. PreK and Kindergarten teachers will not be able to physically comfort children who are having a difficult time adjusting to the new rules. — PreK students will have rest time for 1 hour every day. During rest time they will not wear their masks. — Children will go outside for recess but they cannot use the playground equipment. — Ray has a care room where children who exhibit symptoms of sickness will go to wait until their parents can pick them up. If a child’s immune system is compromised, such as because they have a cold or strep throat, they could be in the same waiting room as a child who has covid 19. — Many Ray teachers have health issues or live with family members who have health issues and who might not survive a brush with covid 19. — If more families choose to continue with remote learning, that means that more Ray teachers can continue to teach from home. If you selected the hybrid plan and you would like to change your mind and continue with remote learning for now, please email Principal Neely ([email protected]) and let her know this. Sincerely, Katie Gruber President of Friends of Ray PTO |
